Background:

Eric Oncins comes from a prestigious lineage of Brazilian athleticism. The son of ATP tennis professional Jaime Oncins, Eric’s foundation in racquet sports began early, eventually leading him to a standout collegiate tennis career at Florida Gulf Coast University on a full scholarship. Raised in a household where "athleticism was a way of life," Eric balances his competitive drive with a degree of charisma and energy that has made him a fan favorite on the pro circuit.

Pickleball Journey:

While his collegiate focus was initially on tennis, Eric’s path changed during his sophomore year when he began practicing with pickleball legend Simone Jardim. What started as friendly matches quickly turned into a professional pursuit. His rise was meteoric; after starting as a rookie in the MLP Challenge, he dedicated himself to a fitness and drilling that culminated in him receiving the MLP Most Improved Player Award last year. He is now a leading ambassador for the sport, helping to grow pickleball’s footprint in both Brazil and the burgeoning Asian market.

On-Court Presence:

Standing at 6’2”, Eric utilizes his height and reach to dominate the kitchen. He is a proponent of the new school of pickleball, favoring a powerful forehand and a deceptive backhand speedups. He is known for his electric energy and impeccable sportsmanship, Eric combines a high-level tennis-style power game with the soft touch required for Pro Pickleball. He is a firm believer in the tactical side of the game, constantly evolving his shots to keep opponents off-balance.
